An organization for faithful priests who’ve been sidelined is celebrating its one-year anniversary.
The Coalition for Canceled Priests and supporters met in Wisconsin last week for prayer and presentations, at an event called “Finding Hope in the Desert.”
In tonight’s In-Depth Report, Church Militant’s William Mahoney has more on the convention.
“Finding Hope in the Desert” began each morning ― June 23 and 24 ― with the Divine Office.
Faithful Catholic speakers included Lepanto Institute’s Michael Hichborn, Dr. Janet Smith, attorney Liz Yore and others.
David Gray: “We’re just here supporting them and helping them fund their missions to build a home for priests and continue the good work of helping priests who have been canceled by their evil bishops.”
Sacred Heart Media’s Raymond de Souza ― a Knight of Malta ― lamented how orthodox priests are being persecuted by heterodox bishops. De Souza likened the ordeal to what he called an “inquisition in reverse.”
Raymond de Souza: “The evil they are doing to the Holy Mother Church is unthinkable, unprecedented in history. Even in the worst times of the Church, we never had orthodox, holy priests being persecuted and homosexuals, dissenters, being promoted and protected.”
Father Scott Duvall, the coalition’s priest-assistance coordinator, had the following message for priests who require assistance.
Fr. Scott Duvall: “Fathers, if you’re in need, go to the website CoalitionforCanceledPriests.org. Fill out the application. The people want to help you.”
Vicki Yamasaki of Corpus Christi for Unity and Peace, based in Indiana, confirmed Fr. Duvall’s message.
Vicki Yamasaki: “I’m here to defend priests because if we do not defend priests, then the next layer of protection is our laity. Priests are the ones who give us our sacraments. They hold marriages together. They are the ones that bring us to Christ.”
Meanwhile, during the event on Friday, those gathered received the breaking news that the Supreme Court overturned Roe. Father James Altman, one of the presenters, was overcome with emotion when hearing the news.
Fr. James Altman: “Dear family, prayers are answered. And all we can do is give thanks to God on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that those precious little hearts will live. God bless you all. Keep the Faith. We know, in the end, Christ conquers.”
Though it seems the Church is navigating one of the toughest storms in history, faithful Catholics know Our Lady, Star of the Sea, will guide Christ’s bride to open waters.
The Coalition for Canceled Priests is working now to secure a property to be used as a residence for sidelined priests and a retreat center.
