Calling the fish ‘huge’ implies it made a major impression on eyewitnesses. Coupled with what we know about the size and severity of the bite, we believe the creature to have been about an 8-foot-long bull shark.
After careful analysis, this may be the earliest recorded case of an unprovoked fatal shark attack on a recreational swimmer in North America.
