‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ by Anne Frank were amongst the books culled, a member of Libraries not Landfills revealed. Librarians were instructed to examine whether pre-2008 books ‘promote anti-racism, cultural responsiveness and inclusivity.’
