Pope Francis has approved the publication of a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed María Antonia de Paz y Figueroa (1730-1799), an Argentine religious sister known as “Mama Antula.”
The Pontiff’s decision paves the way for Blessed María Antonia’s canonization. The religious sister founded the Daughters of the Divine Savior and promoted retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola at a time when the Jesuits were suppressed.
