Month of Our Lady
Dear Friends of Catholic Tradition,
As the Church still glories in the joys of the Resurrection, she turns her gaze in a particular way this month to the Woman clothed with the Sun whose fiat made the Resurrection possible. May is the month of Our Lady. Traditionally, May crownings and processions were held throughout Christendom this month to honor our Mother. I still remember in the mid-1970s when in grammar school looking forward to the procession to a Lourdes grotto near my school. The entire school was there in uniform praying the Rosary and chanting hymns. A special girl was chosen to crown Our Lady’s statue. By the time I was a young adult, the May processions were gone. Now the Catholic school itself is closed due to lack of enrollment.
Yet despite the crises and turbulence of our time, Our Lady still reigns in Heaven over the angels and saints. She still watches over us with the care of a mother. She still longs for the triumph of her Immaculate Heart that we can hasten by our faithfulness to her Rosary and the Five First Saturdays. We must be faithful to our duties of state as she is faithful to us her children.
We at Catholic Family News have always had a deep devotion to Our Lady, and in particular Our Lady of Fatima. We place our apostolate to promote through modern media channels the true orthodox Catholic doctrine and the True Mass and Sacraments. We are constantly looking for new ways and means to fulfill this mission and promote the cause of our dear Mother. Currently we are working hard to launch a premium channel subscription that will bundle together a subscription to this newspaper with access to premium video content. In this way, we hope to translate our incredible growth in the video space (our YouTube channel alone now has nearly 13,000 subscribers) into more regular readers of this paper.
