June 1, 2024
Saturday after Corpus Christi

Dear Friends in Christ,

While the world spends the month of June reveling in unnatural vice and depravity, the Church honors the Sacred Heart of her Divine Head and Spouse, especially by means of the annual Feast of the Sacred Heart according to Our Lord’s own request. On June 16, 1675 during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690) in her convent chapel, revealed His Sacred Heart, and said:

“See this Heart, which has loved men so much that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself, in order to testify to them its love. In return I receive from the greater part only ingratitude, by reason of the contempt, irreverence, sacrilege, and coldness that they show Me in this sacrament of love,” referring to the Holy Eucharist.

“It is for this reason,” He continued, “that I ask thee that the first Friday after the octave of Corpus Christi be set apart as a special feast to honor My Heart, by making an act of reparation, and by communicating on that day to repair the indignities it sustained during the time of exposition on the altars. I promise thee that My Heart will expand to pour out abundantly the influence of its divine love upon all that will render it this honor.”

We see in Our Lord’s words the close connection between His Sacred Heart and the Blessed Sacrament, which truly contains that same Divine Heart. And we hear His ongoing call for us to “repair the indignities” He continues to suffer “in this sacrament of love.” Thus, we earnestly implore all Catholics to console Our Lord by always receiving Him with great reverence and love in Holy Communion.

The Church in the United States is still in the midst of what the U.S. bishops dubbed a “Eucharistic Revival,” which began in June 2022 and is scheduled to continue until Pentecost 2025. Here at CFN, we agree that a restoration of faith and devotion to our Eucharistic Lord is sorely needed. We firmly maintain that the only means of achieving a true restoration is by returning to Tradition, including and especially the Traditional Latin Mass. To that end, we hope readers are enjoying our new series on the Holy Mass by Matthew Plese, which began in the April 2024 issue. We also recommend Brian McCall’s video series, “The Mass Explained and Compared,” which is available on our YouTube and Rumble channels.

As we continue to provide a variety of news coverage, commentary, analysis, and devotional content each month in the paper — and even more frequently via our website, podcasts, and social media accounts — please help us continue our work by subscribing or renewing your subscription, and consider purchasing a gift subscription for a family member or friend. You can also support our work by sharing our online content on social media, liking our podcasts, and leaving positive comments (it really does help and is greatly appreciated).

May God reward your generosity and grant success to our collective efforts. And may the Heart of Jesus, truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even until the end of time!

Sincerely in our Eucharistic King,
