Once again, police are targeting a Polish-Canadian pastor known for speaking out against government tyranny. Just hours into the new year, Protestant street preacher Artur Pawlowski found himself handcuffed and dragged off to jail. Church Militant’s Nadia Hazimeh has more on his arrest.

Alberta police arrested pastor Artur Pawlowski Saturday evening, along with his brother Dawid. An attorney for the Pawlowskis claims cops pulled them over following their involvement in a peaceful protest outside the home of Calgary health minister Jason Copping. The pair were charged with one count of breaching a judge’s order prohibiting them from attending any illegal public gathering.
Alberta premier Jason Kenney stated afterwards that Albertans have a right to protest, but that right doesn’t extend to trespassing at private homes.
It would appear police have Artur Pawlowski in their crosshairs. They arrested him in September on the tarmac of Calgary International Airport after he returned home from the United States — allegedly for not wearing a face covering. He was also arrested in May for holding a church service that flouted COVID rules.
Meanwhile, Calgary’s Catholic Church leaders remain silent, aside from telling priests to limit the number of worshipers during Mass and reminding lay people to wear their masks, keep their distance, and not sing — keeping in lockstep with government policies.
A judge released the Pawlowski brothers on condition they stay away from Health Minister Jason Copping.
