Reflections on life, meaning and purpose

Height of Hypocrisy

The hypocrisy of the global elites and their scorn for the deplorables — the new peasants — are becoming harder to ignore. Church Militant’s Martina Moyski reports on a flagrant example now playing out in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands’ police are bearing down hard and unleashing dogs on their citizens in recent days. Social media is alight with graphic images of police violence against lockdown protesters. This while the prime minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, is criticizing Hungary and Poland (even calling to expunge them from the European Union) because they are “dangerous violators of freedom.”

Visegrad24, a digital media platform focused on central Europe, highlighted the hypocrisy of Dutch authorities: “Perhaps we should raise the notion of restarting the E.U. without the Netherlands … if they do not uphold the rule of law?”

The Visegrad group also noted Dutch police didn’t use any dogs to attack BLM protestors last year. The hypocrisy is not lost on Hungarian foreign minister Péter Szijjártó, who noted, “Again, the model countries of a democratic State governed by the rule of law apply a double standard.”

Twitter users around the world weighed in.

Twitter user: “Let’s also not forget how Dutch media condemned the treatment by Polish border police of illegal migrants trying to storm the border. Now? Crickets.”

Judging by just the most recent protests in the Netherlands, peasants around the world are waking up to the double standard — and are willing to fight for freedom.

Nils Melzer, U.N. special rapporteur on torture, indicated he is looking into the behavior of the Dutch police and will send an “official protest note shortly.”
