On 21 May, Pope Francis gave a video address to a meeting at the Pontifical Urbana University. The attendees included Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and Bishop Shen Bin of Shanghai, president of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association. The occasion was the centenary of a council held in Shanghai which launched a new policy of indigenisation of the Church in China. Four years later, the first six Chinese bishops of modern times were consecrated in Rome.
