Extreme heat and flood threats in Brazil

A large part of central and southeastern Brazil is experiencing stifling heat in the midst of the Southern Hemisphere spring. On November 17, the heat index, which combines temperature and humidity, reached 59.3°C in Rio, setting a new record.
