The term RINO (Republican In Name Only) doesn’t apply just to candidates. Oftentimes, candidates are backed by organizations who share the same goal — whether it be money, power or a combination of the two.
There is a stark contrast between establishment pro-life organizations (sometimes called “faux-lifers”) and authentic pro-life groups.
One such disparity is between Ohio Right to Life and the Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio.
Liz Kent, district 3 vice president, Right to Life Action Coalition of Ohio: “The reason for the group existing is the frustration that multiple metropolitan pro-life organizations were witnessing when dealing with Ohio Right to Life who, by all means, should be, you know, a no-exceptions group and be fighting for the rights of the unborn as well as, you know, the elderly and everybody in between. But it was a very different ‘walk’ from what they were speaking.”
And this is shown in the fruits each organization bears. In this case, consider the difference in endorsements of a gubernatorial candidate. Ohio Right to Life is endorsing the sitting Governor, Mike Dewine. RTLAC, however, is endorsing challenger Jim Renacci.
Mike Dewine lost the endorsement of RTLAC after a plethora of anti-life decisions. For example, Dewine allowed Planned Parenthood to remain open during the Wuhan shutdowns. DeWine also hired Amy Acton to head up Ohio’s Department of Health. Acton is a pro-abortion Obama supporter.
Currently, Dewine is allowing six Planned Parenthood locations to continue operating — with expired medical licenses.
Kent: “This is really a problem and it can be really confusing to Ohio voters as to why we’ve got two statewide organizations that are very different in terms of their endorsees.”
Jim Renacci is a practicing Catholic who believes life begins at conception and ends at natural death. Renacci earned the endorsement of the coalition after completing its thirty-minute survey — just one part of its extensive vetting process.
Many Ohioans may be confused by competing endorsements from pro-life groups. But this is the result of the money and power politics that have infiltrated the RINO establishment.
