The politically conscious Democratic Party is usually very careful with its choreographed moves in order to maintain power. In tonight’s In-Depth Report, Church Militant’s Paul Murano shows how the FBI raid on Trump’s home may boost the GOP in the midterm elections.

Donald Trump, Jr.: “They’ve weaponized one of the most powerful militarized government institutions in the world and used it against their political opponents.”

Polls show the raid on Trump’s Florida home will impact the 2022 midterms in November, and Democrats may not like it.

Jim Ellis, political consultant, Church Militant: “Democrats have a problem because they have to turn the agenda away from the economy, where they have nothing to say.”

A new Trafalgar Group survey of almost 1,100 likely voters conducted last week is showing most Americans believe the raid on the former president’s private home was politically motivated.

Ellis: “There’s no question the FBI is running their operation to lead to an indictment of President Trump.”

Jim Ellis is a political consultant for Church Militant and has been covering national politics for several decades.

Ellis: “The question is will they be able to come up with anything that indicts him. They’ve been trying for seven years and have gotten nothing.”

Even though more Democrats than Republicans participated in the survey, 8% more of the total respondents said Trump’s political enemies are behind the raid. As expected, more Republicans than Democrats believe this.

Ellis: “Well, certainly the Mar-a-lago raid by the FBI has energized the Trump base.”

Seventy-seven percent of Republicans say the raid was politically motivated. The all-important Independent voters believe the raid was motivated by politics rather than justice — by a margin of 54% to 35%.

Trump, Jr.: “Donald Trump can get raided, but Hillary’s emails? Nothing, no problem. Anthony Weiner’s laptop? No problem. The Epstein tapes? No problem. The Maxwell billionaire pedophile ring names? That’s not a problem. They won’t look at Hunter Biden’s laptop.”

As for the practical consequences, it looks like the Mar-a-Lago drama set a fire among Republicans, who plan to respond with their vote.

When asked if the search and seizure increased their motivation to vote in November, more than 8 in 10 Republicans said yes. And more than 7 in 10 Independents responded in the affirmative. An increased turnout of Independents will likely help Republicans, since nearly 20% more Independents surveyed believe dirty politics was behind the raid.

Ellis: “The ultimate goal is to stop him from running for president.”

Three months is a lifetime in politics. Will anger motivate conservative voters to punish the Party of Death for what they see as an unlawful and unethical raid? We’ll find out in November.

The representation of racial, sex and age demographics of the Trafalgar Survey corresponds to the general population.
