While the Biden administration continues its ideological onslaught against biology, one state is fighting back. Church Militant’s Paul Murano is following Florida’s challenge to federal guidelines on so-called transgender treatment.
The state of Florida is standing up against the ideologically driven Department of Health and Human Services.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla.: “We’re standing for the kids, and we’re standing for the parents.”
Wednesday, the Sunshine State released health guidelines that openly dispute an HHS document released last month entitled “Gender-Affirming Care and Young People.”
The federal document claims the well-being of confused minors includes “aligning their outward physical traits with their gender identity.” So-called gender-affirming treatments include puberty blockers, hormone therapy and sex-reassignment (mutilation) surgery.
Walt Heyer, former so-called transgender: “You use the language to try to get people to understand what you’re talking about. But then you forget what you’re doing is actually selling what the Left is promoting.”
The Florida Department of Health released its response, signed by the governor and state surgeon general. It undermines the feds’ claims as agenda driven and against real science. The state’s surgeon general added Wednesday that children “should be supported by family and seek counseling, not pushed into an irreversible decision before they reach 18.”
Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo, Florida surgeon general: “What’s been happening in the past year is that people have been taking the science and misrepresenting it.”
State representative Randy Fine is promising legislation to ban hormone treatments and surgeries on sex-confused minors in Florida.
Dr. G.C. Dilsaver, Catholic psychologist: “We want to receive the real. You want to be able to assent to the truth, and you want to be able to choose the good. That means saying yes to reality.”
As the facts come out, it’s becoming more clear that when Democrats preach “follow the science,” they mean ideological and political science.
The states that have passed legislation to ban so-called transgender hormone treatments on minors are Arkansas, Arizona and Alabama. Each ban has been legally challenged and tied up in court.
