Reflections on life, meaning and purpose

Grooming Kids in Metro Detroit

The Culture of Death and the Culture of Life cannot meet without great agitation, and the milieu in the Metro Detroit area exemplifies this. On Saturday, Church Militant Resistance and faithful Catholics rallied to protest a drag queen story time at Sidetrack Bookshop in Royal Oak, Michigan, just a few miles from the Church Militant studios.

Joseph Enders at Saturday’s protest

Church Militant senior producer Joseph Enders covered the debauchery and the counterprotest. He asked questions of LGBTQ activists — some of whom claim to be Christian — and prayed on the sidewalk opposite the bookstore. Coverage of the event and protest can be seen in the latest episode of Red Top Report.

Towards the beginning of the episode, Enders walks past the crowd of drag queen supporters and discovers a self-professed Christian in their midst. The man claims that he’s “a Christian, 100%. And I can tell you that Jesus never said a single thing about being anti-LGBT, never said a single thing. That part of the Bible is 100% man-made.”

After also claiming that Jesus never taught that marriage is between one man and one woman, the man went on to argue that “drag queens do the same thing that Jesus Christ did. They promote love, and they promote acceptance, 100%.”

Clearly, that’s heartbreaking enough, but throughout the episode, leftist activists reveal a lifestyle completely anathema to Our Lord and the gospel. And the saddest part is that they don’t exhibit, at least not publicly, any shame about that. One woman who heckled Enders towards the beginning of the episode by repeatedly saying “pee pee, poo poo” later explicitly admitted to hating men and implicitly admitted to being sexist.

In response to a question regarding sex offenders reading to children, several drag supporters jabbed (unsurprisingly) about sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. Church Militant wasn’t the only media outlet present in Royal Oak that day. Reporters from the Detroit News, Local 4 and FOX 2 Detroit also showed up.

Although the Catholic Church would recognize that the primary battlefield of transgenderism and drag queen story hour is in the heart of every human person, state legislatures no doubt play a part.

In the last several months, state legislatures across the country have been working against such despicable events.

For example, in a 26–6 vote on March 10, Kentucky’s Senate passed a bill banning drag performances on public property or in front of children. Senate Bill 115 now heads to the state’s republican-controlled house.

Kentucky’s Senate passed a bill banning drag performances on public property or in front of children.

According to National Review, “The first two violations of the proposed law would be punishable as misdemeanors, while subsequent offenses would be felonies. Businesses that host prohibited performances could have their alcohol and business licenses suspended or revoked.”

Gov. Bill Lee, R-Tenn.

On March 2, Tennessee Republican Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill into law that will protect children from perverted performances, which the law refers to as “adult cabaret performances.” The law goes into effect on July 1, 2023.

Kentucky and Tennessee are just two of the at least 15 states legislating in some way against drag queen story hours. On March 2, the Arizona Senate passed two bills attempting to slow down the strange events. One of those bills would make it a felony to expose a child to a drag show.

On February 27, the governor of Arkansas signed a bill into law that restricts “adult-oriented” performances, though the language in the bill that explicitly named drag queen performances was removed before it was placed on Sarah Huckabee’s desk.

Other states like Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia are also pursuing legislation to at least diminish inappropriate events like the drag queen story hour in Royal Oak, Michigan.
