There’s a deafening silence today from the leftist political and media mob who publicly supported the big lie of actor Jussie Smollett. Church Militant’s Paul Murano takes a look at this latest example of blatant hypocrisy from leftists, who are eager to serve the progressive narrative for political gain.
Jussie Smollett was found guilty, Thursday, on five counts — for cooking up an elaborate scheme. The actor went public in 2019 with the story he had been brutally attacked by Trump-supporting White men because of his race and sexual perversion.
Jussie Smollett: “There was a second person involved who was kicking me in the back.”
Many of the usual suspects back then lined up to support him.
Al Sharpton, civil rights activist: “Two White men who used the ‘n-word’ and homophobic slurs.”
Sharpton had much company: Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg said, “This horrible attack calls all Americans to stand against hatred and violence.” Unelected Kamala Harris tweeted, “This was an attempted modern-day lynching. … We must confront such hate.” New York representative “A.O.C.” wrote, “It was a racist and homophobic attack.”
Not to be outdone, Sen. Bernie Sanders ranted, “The racist and homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett is a horrific instance of the surging hostility toward minorities around the country.” And unelected, fake-Catholic Biden had this to say: “Homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie.”
Prosecuting attorney: “The evidence was overwhelming that, in fact, Mr. Smollett had faked a hate crime and then lied to the police about it.”
To the Left, Jussie Smollett committed mortal sin — not bearing false witness, but rather getting caught fabricating untruths that support the narrative.
Smollett’s defense lawyers say there were contradictions in the jury’s findings. And they’re confident Smollett will be vindicated on appeal.
