New DA Green-Lights Crime

Despite massive spikes in New York City shootings and murders, Manhattan’s newest district attorney is announcing there will be no prosecution for some serious crimes. Church Militant’s Joe Gallagher tells us more about cutting perps loose in the heart of the Big Apple.

Since 2020, New York’s crime rate has skyrocketed — now at its highest rate in 10 years. But Manhattan’s newest district attorney, Alvin Bragg, is riling law enforcement in a new memo.

He’s busting down some previously prison-worthy crimes like armed robbery and burglary from decades-long prison terms to less than a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Alvin Bragg, district attorney, Manhattan: “Guns and addressing gun violence are a top priority for me.”

Under his new plan, armed robbers using guns or other deadly weapons will only face misdemeanor charges, provided they don’t present “genuine risk of physical harm.”

Bragg also declared his office will not prosecute charges like refusing to pay bus or subway fares, trespassing, resisting arrest, prostitution or obscenity.

New York’s largest police union complained the new policy would send an unwise message to both criminals and police, saying: “There are already too many people who believe that they can commit crimes, resist arrest, interfere with police officers and face zero consequences.”

Trey Blanton, Church Militant reporter and former law enforcement officer: “Why would any cop risk their life responding to a call that they know won’t be prosecuted? This is only going to increase tensions between criminals and normally law-abiding citizens who feel they have no other recourse.”

Bragg is one of the newest leftists elected district attorney of a large city, with $1 million going towards his election from leftist billionaire George Soros.

Leftist prosecutors in Democrat-run cities across the country — many funded by Soros — are remaking the law to favor criminals over victims through policies that seem to embolden lawbreakers.
