Reflections on life, meaning and purpose

Ohio’s 2022 Annual Abortion Report

COLUMBUS, Ohio (ChurchMilitant.com) – The state of Ohio recently published its 2022 Annual Abortion Report, revealing more than 18,000 children were killed in utero that year.

The report focuses solely on abortions conducted within Ohio and excludes Ohio residents who sought abortions in other states.

Overall Numbers

Abortions decreased by 15% from 2021, which may be due to Ohio’s Heartbeat Law going into effect after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Pro-life laws are believed to be effective in reducing abortions.

Disturbing Statistics

18,488 abortions were committed in Ohio in 2022.
Cuyahoga County had the highest with 29.9% of all abortions.
The counties of Cuyahoga and Summit combined made up 45.1% of all abortions.
Black children aborted accounted for 48.4%, despite the black population being around 13% in Ohio.
Many abortuaries are near minority neighborhoods.

Late-Term Abortions

In 2022, 442 babies 19 weeks and over were aborted in Ohio.
The techniques used are gruesome.

On Nov. 7, Ohioans will vote on Issue 1, a constitutional amendment called “The Right to Reproductive Freedom With Protections for Health and Safety.”

Pro-life advocates, including Lizzie Marbach, have blasted the Issue 1 initiative for potentially allowing what she describes as “state-sanctioned murder of pre-born lives.”

Concerns also extend to potential implications for minors undergoing sex-change surgeries and overriding parental rights. Critics argue the amendment’s wording is broad and misleading.

Though Cincinnati’s archbishop, Dennis Schnurr, urged opposition, some pro-lifers wish for greater clerical engagement on the issue.

The deadline for voter registration is Oct. 10. Early voting starts on Oct. 11.
