The Saturday that precedes Passion Sunday, called “Sitientes” Saturday, from the first word of the introit of the Mass, is a traditional day for conferring ordinations.
It is the day usually chosen in the Society of Saint Pius X seminaries in the northern hemisphere to confer the subdiaconate.
This year, Bishop de Galarreta ordained a Belgian and a Pole as sub-deacons at the seminary in Zaitzkofen, located in Bavaria, in front of a reduced attendance, because of the health restrictions limiting the capability to welcome visitors to religious buildings.
On the same day, eight seminarians received the subdiaconate at the seminary in Ecône. Ordinations to the subdiaconate at Dillwyn Seminary in the United States will take place this Friday, March 26.
On Saturday March 20, 2021, Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta conferred the subdiaconate on two seminarians from the Sacred Heart Seminary in Zaitzkofen, Germany.
