If Joe Biden decides not to run in 2024, Kamala Harris is the “heir apparent” to the presidency. Church Militant’s Kristine Christlieb explains why Democrats should be worried.

One of Kamala Harris’ first assignments as vice president was to manage the U.S.–Mexico border crisis. The entire world has been watching the chaos unfold as 1.6 million illegal migrants have encountered U.S. Border Patrol in 2021.

Vice President Kamala Harris: “I’m very happy to be in Paris.”

In mid-November, Harris did manage to make a trip to Paris.

Harris: “I just want to buy a pot.”

Where she was widely criticized for spending time and money shopping for expensive French cookware.

Harris:  “Oh, that’s fabulous.”

Last week, Symone Sanders had had enough and announced her resignation. A veteran staffer from the Biden administration, Sanders was Harris’ chief spokesperson and senior advisor. Her job was to manage Harris’ public image, and that has not been easy to do. Harris has a history of cringe-worthy gaffes.

The Washington Post interviewed 18 people connected with Harris and detailed their observations. One said Harris is unwilling “to do the prep and the work.” Another said working for Harris was “soul destroying” like “constantly … propping up a bully.” In an example of damning with faint praise, another staffer said she was “tough but not abusive.”

The inability to retain staff is not a promising trait in the leader of the free world. And that’s what worries Democrats — and should worry us as well.

A total of four people have recently resigned from Harris’ staff, and others may not be far behind.
