WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) – A U.S. lawmaker is fighting Biden’s plan to funnel male inmates into women’s federal prisons.

Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark., is introducing a bill to counteract unelected President Joe Biden’s proposed directive to assign inmates to federal prisons based on their self-proclaimed “gender identity.”
In remarks published Wednesday, Cotton explained to The Federalist the woke policy is harmful to women:
President Biden’s plan to house male and female prisoners together will put women in danger. Documented cases prove that placing men — including ones who “identify” as female — in women’s prisons puts female inmates at increased risk of sexual assault. My bill will stop the president’s ill-conceived plan and keep men and women separated in federal prison.
The Federalist reported receiving a copy of Biden’s executive order, which instructs the U.S. Attorney General to identify “any necessary changes to the [Bureau of Prisons] Transgender Offender Manual … to enable BOP to designate individuals to facilities in accordance with their gender identity.”
Nathanael Blake, a reporter with the Federalist who broke this story, explained to Church Militant why Biden initiated this dangerous policy that seemingly panders to the Left:
Biden is pushing this policy at the behest of his party’s activist base, which is all-in on the LGBT agenda. At root, this focus on sexuality and gender is the result of desire, rather than God, being seen as the source of human authenticity and identity. I am glad to see Sen. Cotton working against its introduction into government policymaking.
If passed, Sen. Cotton’s bill would derail Biden’s order before it actually goes into effect. The bill requires prisoners to be housed according to biological sex. As the Federalist reported, it would also prohibit federal dollars from being directed to state law enforcement where states have established coed prisons under gender identity theories.
Disaster Unfolding
Where prisons have already implemented similar contentious policies, like in California and Illinois, reports of sexual assault abound. As a result, women behind bars are beginning to pursue legal protection.
In November, the nonprofit advocacy group, Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF) filed a lawsuit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in response to the state’s placement of male inmates into women’s prisons. The transfers began in January 2021 when California’s “Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act” (SB132) went into effect.
California’s transgender policy allowed biologically male inmates claiming to be female to seek transfer into women’s prison facilities based entirely on their declared “gender identity.” It did not matter whether the biological men had undergone surgery on their genitals or had taken hormones.
Several hundred inmates who had not undergone sex reassignment surgery immediately requested a transfer following the passage of SB132. Some of them had been sentenced for violent and sexual crimes against women and children.
Polling data collected by Spry Strategies in October 2020 on behalf of WoLF, revealed 67% of likely voters disagreed with pro-LGBT policies that remove protections for women in single-sex spaces such as prisons, shelters and sports.
An International Problem
The integration of gender-confused men into jail cells and penitentiaries that house women isn’t a problem isolated to America’s prison systems. As the world succumbs to the weight of woke culture, other countries are establishing identical policies and reaping harmful ramifications.
A survey revealed last year in Canada that where so-called transgender inmates had been privy to prisons of choice since early 2018, the majority of imprisoned women felt unsafe being incarcerated alongside biological men. Of those who responded, 4 in 10 admit they’ve been sexually harassed, with about a third saying they’ve been threatened or physically assaulted by a male prisoner.

Imprisoned for murdering and dismembering his girlfriend
In Sweden, a convict who was imprisoned for murdering and dismembering his girlfriend in 2013 requested a transfer to a less secure women’s facility after he began transitioning through the use of synthetic hormones. His request was made and granted in 2019. Critics note he moved to a facility where the women garden, sew and are allowed to have metal cutlery in their rooms. Some women have their young children living with them.
Biden’s Long-Standing LGBT Agenda
Biden, a phony Catholic who has performed gay “wedding” ceremonies, has relentlessly defended the LGBT agenda. In 2020, while campaigning in Iowa, he proclaimed transgenderism as the preeminent civil rights issue.
He tweeted, “Let’s be clear: Transgender equality is the civil rights issue of our time. There is no room for compromise when it comes to basic human rights.”
Biden also claimed there are “at least three” genders.
