For decades, the pro-life movement has attempted to chip away at Roe v. Wade. However, with Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, pro-lifers aren’t looking to just chip away; they have taken direct aim at completely rescinding the ruling. Church Militant’s Aidan O’Connor reveals what the political landscape may look like if the Supreme Court upends the landmark case.
Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments for the biggest threat to Roe v. Wade in over a decade. A pro-life ruling in Dobbs, however, wouldn’t end child murder in America.
Eric Scheidler, executive director of Pro-Life Action League: “Well, if Roe v. Wade is overturned, that’s when the pro-life movement really begins. That’s when we have to see whether we have the guts to really push our politicians, our legislators to do what it takes to truly ban abortion.”
Overturning Roe would simply kick the question back to the states, allowing each to decide its own abortion policy — as was the case before 1973. With the power back in the states’ respective courts, each jurisdiction could respond differently. Many states were already moving to legalize abortion before Roe imposed a federal standard almost 50 years ago.
As the conservative ranks of the Supreme Court have been growing, liberals and conservatives alike have taken steps to prepare for the possible scrapping of Roe.

As of September, 43 states have enacted laws affecting abortion, limiting or unfettering the murderous procedure to various degrees within Roe’s framework. Seven states do not have any restriction on killing in utero, allowing abortion at any point during pregnancy.
States like California, New York and Illinois have attempted to protect abortion by enshrining it into law. Conversely, 12 states have so-called trigger laws in place, which will effectively ban abortion if Roe is overturned. The tide began to turn with the election of Donald Trump in 2016 — the first president to attend the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.
Liberals expressed their “disappointment.”
If Trump’s Supreme Court appointees do, in fact, join other conservative justices to overturn Roe, the fate of abortion and America’s unborn will be in the hands of U.S. voters.
Each state would once again use the democratic process to either end or prolong the child-murder holocaust, either staining the nation with still more innocent blood or beginning to redeem her.
